Prospects of Azerbaijan’s Development to be Discussed in London

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 June /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Current situation and prospects of Azerbaijan's development will be discussed in London. "International Institute for Strategic Studies, London Network for State Establishment and Conflict Solution of Great Britain and Center for Strategic Studies attached to the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan will hold an international conference 'Way of Azerbaijan towards prosperity - economic, political and foreign-political challenges' in London on 20 June," Elnur Aslanov, Chief of Department of Political Review and Information Support of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, reported to Trend on 17 June.

According to him, such an event dedicated to Azerbaijan's development is held in London for the first time. The conference will comprise four sessions. The first session will analyze position of Azerbaijan as key energy producer and important energy transporting country. During the session, speeches will be made by the Executive Director of State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAR), Shahmar Movsumov, representatives of British Gas Company and other leading analysts and experts.  

Aslanov said that the second session will focus on economic reforms, issues of long-term development of Azerbaijan and realization of non-oil sector in economic potential of Azerbaijan During the session, reports will be made by Azerbaijani MP Azer Amiraslanov, representatives of magazines of The Economics and City Bank.

The third session will cover the issues of contemporary State establishment of Azerbaijan.

Discussions will be held on State governance in Azerbaijan and requirement for establishment of democratic institutions. On this topic, speeches will be given by Department Chief of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Elnur Hasanov, Head of the OSCE Office in Baku, Ambassador Jose Luis Herrero Ansola, representative of International Crisis Group, Magdalena Fritchev, President of Human Rights Fund of Azerbaijan, Tural Kerimli.  

The fourth meeting will focus on Azerbaijan's foreign policy and Nagorno-Karabakh issue. During the session, reports will be delivered by the Head of Center for Strategic Studies attached to the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Elkhan Nuriyev, Executive Director of British LINKS organization, Denis Sammut, former Secretary General of NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Simon Lon and Professor of London Economic School, Roy Elison.    

"The one day conference will be discussed direction of Azerbaijan's development, and several directions will be analyzed," Aslanov said.
