"Attack by Ossetin Separatists Repulsed" – Georgian Peacekeeping Commander

Georgia, Tbilisi, 29 July / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / General Mamuka Kurashvili, Commander of the Georgian Peacekeeping Contingent, told Trend that Georgian militaries repulsed Ossetin separatists suitably.

"Separatists attempted to capture the Sarabuk heights which are controlled by Georgian peacekeepers, but the attack was repulsed," Kurashvili said.

General said no casualties were reported. However, Kurashvili was not informed about the possible casualties from the opposite side. Georgian's Sveri village was shot from the south Ossetia's positions on 29 July.

The Georgian flag was hanged on the Sarabuk heights overnight. Georgian officials from the Defence Ministry and United Armed Forces attended at the ceremony.
