CE to Observe Presidential Elections in   Azerbaijan: Vice-President

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 August / Trend corr. R.Novruzov/ A Council of Europe (CE) mission including 30 people will observe the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, CE Vice-President and the head of Azerbaijan's delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said to journalists in Baku on 13 August.

Presidential elections will take place in Azerbaijan on 15 October. Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) registered 4,834,584 voters. Last year's voter list included over 4,600,000 voters.

According to the Chairman of the CEC Mazahir Panahov, 11 people have submitted their subscription lists to the Commission to participate in the elections as presidential contenders. One more candidate submitted his documents.

Seyidov said a meeting of the PACE Bureau scheduled for 5 September will discuss the military conflict in South Ossetia ongoing between Russia and Georgia.
