Information about Injured during Blast in Mosque in   Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 August / Trend corr. S.Kazimli / People, who were injured as a result of blast at the Abu Bakir mosque, were taken to the Medical Clinic Centre.

According to the Centre, 12 people, who were injured in this incident, were taken to the Centre.

Two of them including Vagif Abbasov and Tayyar Valiyaddinov died at the hospital. Zaur Rahimov, Ilgar Vakilov and Royal Isgandarov were discharged after the primary medical aid.

At present, Sahib Xasayev, a 32-year old resident of Shamakhi Region (got stomach, right and left hips and left arm injury), 23-year old Rashad Jamalov, a resident of Nasimi District of Baku (arm and shin injury), 27-year old Dashgin Ibrahimov, a resident of Nizami District of Baku (neck and left arm injury), 24-year old Namig Mammadov, a resident of Amirjan Settlement of Surakhani District in Baku (breast, stomach arm and foot injury), 25-year old Vugar Salahov, (breast, left arm injury) are at the Centre.

On 18 August, 24-year old Rashad Ismayilov (left arm injury) was discharged. Ruslan Safaraliyev, 37-year old resident of Khizi Region (cranium and brain injury) was taken to Zarifa Aliyeva Ophthamological Centre.

At 09.50 p.m. 17 August, blast took place in the Abu Bekir Mosque during the evening prayers. Unknown broke the mosque's window with stone and threw two RGD-1 grenades into the mosque.

Two people died and 11 were wounded as a result of this incident, Akif Rzayev, the inspector told journalists on 18 August. He answered to journalists' question concerning terror attack that the investigation is studying it as a homicide.

At present law enforcement bodies are examining the incident place.

The Baku City Police runs high security in connection with the incident. Police posts are formed at different places of the capital and all suspicious transport means are being examined.

According to the Baku City Public Prosecutor's Office, this case is being investigated at the Baku city Public Prosecutor's Office and criminal case was filed on Articles 120.2.4 (deliberate homicide through general dangerous method) and 120.2.7 (deliberate homicide of two or more people) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

Nobody has been detained in connection with this incident. It is still being determined whether it has been a terror attack or not.

Mainly people, who belong to Vahhabi sect, pray in the Abu Bakir Mosque. In 2008, the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry and the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations held operations in the mosque and withdraw religious books, which spread are banned.

Eldar Mahmudov, the National Security Minister, and Ramil Usubov, the Interior Minister came to the place of incident on 17 August.
