Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 August / Trend , corr G. Ahmadova, T. Jafarov/ The outcome of the presidential elections to be held in the United States in November does not promise compromises in Iran issue. On the contrary, it can make situation around Iran's nuclear program tenser.
"Iran it should realize that a new US president from whichever party would find it difficult to make compromises after six more months of Iranian stalling," the British expert Mark Fitzpatrick said to Trend by e-mail from London.
Ollie Heinonen, deputy director general of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has paid four visits to Iran in a year. Last time Heinonen visited Iran on 18 August where he hold second round of talks between Iran and IAEA on the further bilateral cooperation.
The diplomatic track between Iran and IAEA is stuck, Fitzpatrick said.
"Iran probably thinks that it can wait until a new president comes to power in Iran," said expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
The reluctance of Iran to introduce clarity into a nuclear issue will probably speed up sanctions against the country. The Iranian political expert Piruz Mujtahidzade said that the results of talks between IAEA and Iran will not results in sanctions against Iran which US can pass whenever it wishes so.
"US passed third resolution on Iran in UN Security Council without the consent of IAEA. US can pass new resolutions and toughen already existing ones against Iran. The Iranian people will suffer most of all," Iranian expert said to Trend by telephone from Tehran.
According to Fitzpatrick, despite making positive statements, Iran refuses to make any concession.
"Despite making positive sounding words, Iran refuses to make any concession at all regarding the major issue of suspending its enrichment programme as mandated by the Security Council," he said.
According to Piruz Mujtahidzade, an Iranian expert, at present the Iranian nuclear issue is much tangled.
IAEA and Iran agreed not to reveal details of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear problem. Therefore, I have little information about details of the negotiations. Regardless of results of the talks, the IAEA cannot influence investigations into the Iranian nuclear program on enrichment of uranium," Mujtahidzade, the chairman of the UK Yurosevik Investigation Fund said to Trend from Tehran.
According to analysts, negotiations between the IAEA and Iran focused on 'supposed investigations' by Iran's atomists in nuclear field. The matter is the Iranian Green Salt project (processing of uranium dioxide into uranium tetrafluoride), as well as testing of explosive substances and development of combat part of missile entering dense bed of atmosphere.
There was progress in clarification of the remained issues on the Iranian nuclear activity in past, Mohammad al-Baradei, the general director of the IAEA noted in his report on Iran, which was submitted to the Board of Directors of the Agency in May. He stressed that it is up to Tehran to study military aspects of nuclear programs, in which the Iranian atomic scientist were engaged in past.
