Current Situation is Result of Falsification in Presidential Elections: Afghani MP

Afghanistan, Kabul, 28 August / Trend corr. A.Hakimi / According to Taj Mohammad Mujahid, MP of the Afghani Parliament, who criticized the Elections Commission of the country, the current situation in the country is a result of falsification in the presidential elections.

The National council of Afghanistan (the Afghani Parliament) discussed and adopted regulations of the Elections Commission, nomination of chairman and its seven members, reported the correspondent of Trend reported from Afghanistan.

The Elections Commission was seriously criticize after the presidential elections in Afghanistan.

The Afghani Government sent the Law, which specifies powers and regulations of the Elections Commission, to the National council (parliament). In accordance with the Law comprising five Articles and 22 points, representatives of the National council should confirm powers of the Elections Commission's members. Some officials of the authorities were against it.

At present, the parliament confirmed only one Article of the law and according to which the President appoints the chairman of the commission.

Zakariya Barkezi, the deputy chairman of the Elections Commission, criticized initiative on election of commission's members by the National council.

According to Barkezi, the parliament's decision on appointment of the Elections Commission's members will lead to interference of MPs into work of the organization.

The Elections Commission should be independent financially and concerning issues of the organization. Most of Afghani MPs are support independency of the organization, as well.
