N.Kirtskhalia / Nobody can change the Georgia people's mood for freedom and citizens of the country will never agree to lose independencу, the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, stated at a joint briefing with the US Vice President Dick Cheney in Tbilisi.
"Half million of Georgians proved their aspiration for freedom, when they went out streets and showed their firmness in front of aggressor in conditions of unfinished occupation," he stated.
"We thank the United States for its support and real financial aid, which are testified by statements of President Bush and the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice," he said. Georgians wants to live in peace with all nations of the world and to solve all problems through peaceable way, the President stressed.
"We feel strong support of the United States, Japan, as well as China and all of them stand near us. Therefore, I think that we are prepared for everything and have passed difficult stage," Saakashvili said.
According to the President, Georgia has two territories, including Abkhazia and South Ossetia, where ethnic cleansing is being held. The Russian troops drive not only ethnic Georgians, but also Ossetia people having normal relations with Georgians," Saakashvili said.
The Georgian President urged all countries of the world not to recognize separatist regimes. "I want to urge all countries of the world not to recognize territories, which Russia recognized. Georgia is a peace country and will struggle to settle all problems through dialogue," he said expressing readiness to establish constructive relations with all countries of the world and first with neighbor countries.
Large-scale military operations commenced in the unrecognized South Ossetia republic in the early morning of 8 August. Georgian Army was reported to enter Tskhinvali. Then Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and forced Georgian Army back to the Georgian territory.
On 12 August, the Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev said that he made a decision to end operations to compel Georgia to peace.
Russia one-sidedly recognized independencies of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
