Syria, France, Qatar, Turkey Meeting Underway in Damascus

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 September/ Trend , corr U. Sadigova/ The meeting of head of states of Syria, Turkey, Qatar and France began in Damascus on 4 September. Important regional issues including Syrian-Israeli talks will be discussed during the meeting.

President of France Nicolas Sarkozy said during his two-day visit to Syria that this visit will have a positive impact on stabilizing situation in Near East and it will also pave a way for further relations between Syria and France, Aljazeera reported on 4 September.

The Syrian President Bashar Asad said at a press conference that he accepts Europe's participation in resolution of regional problems and added that France is performing this role very well.

During the meeting, President of France and Syria will discuss energy cooperation of Persian Gulf stases and EU with the Turkish Prime Minister Racab Tayyip Erdogan and emir of Qatar Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and also joint projects of Syria and Turkey with EU and other Gulf states.
