Azerbaijan Central Election Commission Registers 700 Local Observers

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 September / Trend corr. J.Babayeva/ The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) registered about 700 local observers of the presidential elections. Over 200 observers are the representatives of local NGOs, CEC said to Trend on 25 September.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. Seven candidates will take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

District election commissions registered 20,000 observers. CEC will complete registration of observers ten days and district election commission five days before the voting.
