Terms Not Carried out to Establish Great Coalition of Azerbaijani Opposition
Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 October / Trend corr. A.Huseynbala / Although cooperation of the Azerbaijani opposition was repeatedly discussed, it was agreed not to publicize it to media.
"If Ali Karimli's explanation is published in all newspapers, it will mean that he has violated terms," Mirmahmud Miralioglu, the chairman of the Classical Popular Front Party (CPFP), told Trend on 28 October.
The opposition Cooperation Centre includes Azadlig Bloc (the Popular Front Party, the Liberal Party, the Citizen and Development Party), the Musavat Party and the Public Forum 'For Azerbaijan'. These political organizations signed a joint statement on recognition of the presidential elections to be held on 15 October as illegal. The statement announces the authorities, which will be formed after the presidential elections, as illegitimate. Negotiations have begun to unite the opposition in larger coalition after the elections.
According to Miralioglu, the name of the opposition coalition, which was discussed with the participation of chairman of the Azerbaijan Democrat Party Sardar Jalaloglu, was not included to an agenda.
"We just think about necessity to unify for future of Azerbaijan and intend to achieve establishment of large opposition coalition, which will comprise political parties boycotting the presidential elections. At present Karimli proposes to form the opposition Unified Cooperation Centre," the CPFP chairman stressed.
Head of the Muasir Musavat Party Central Executive Body Arif Hajili's idea, which states that serious political parties are represented in the so-called Opposition Cooperation Centre and those outside are not so serious, is irrelevant, he said.
"The time, when somebody's power was determined through words, remained in the past. On the other hand, the matter is unification of the Azerbaijani political movements known in a political arena of the country. If anybody is against it, it means that they are the forces, which prevent the union," Miralioglu said.
