Afghanistan, Kabul, 10 November / Trend corr. A.Hakimi/ Representatives of the Afghanistan Parliament are expecting serious support from the new U.S. Administration to conduct free and transparent elections in their country. They voiced concern about interference in the elections by other countries.

The parliamentarians hope the newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama, as he promised during his election campaign, will make drastic changes Afghanistan. He said in his election speeches that he would attack the main Taliban positions in Pakistan.

Representative of the Afghan Parliament Ahmad Behzad criticized to Trend the interference of other countries in the presidential election that was conducted in Afghanistan in 2005 and voiced his hope that next year's presidential election will be transparent.

"During the latest presidential election the Afghanistan people witnessed that foreign countries supported the same candidate," said Behzad.

According to Behzad, the new U.S. Administration is not satisfied with the work of the Afghan Government and will not support it. The Afghan people must not stay aside from the changes Obama will make in the United States.

Afghan officials hope continued combating against terrorism in Pakistan will entail stability in Afghanistan. They believe the new U.S. Administration and the international community must respect the wish of the nation and must oppose any interference in the presidential election. The people must hold free election and must determine their future on their own.

"The Afghan people must make a decision on their own and must not allow other countries to interfere in the outcome of the election," another MP Sabrina Sahib said to Trend on 10 November.

Sahib hopes the U.S. Government will support the will of the Afghan people.

"Instability, unemployment, kidnapping, increasing number of armed attacks, lack of food, expanding corruption in Afghanistan makes the people dissatisfied with the authorities," she said.

"The current U.S. Administration supports the people in Afghanistan who are unable to govern the country. This support impedes development in Afghanistan," MP Mohammad Dawud Sultan said to Trend .

Afghanistan's MPs hope the policy of the U.S. new administration will make serious changes. They believe Obama will take all required measures to ensure security in Afghanistan.

U.S. military men many times attacked Taliban in Pakistan. Afghans are convinced that intensification of combating against terrorism in Pakistan will ensure security in their country. However, that has not yet taken place.

Taliban called on the population of Afghanistan's several regions to abstain from vote. On the other side, most part of the population does not want to receive vote cards. Afghans say other countries will again interfere with the next presidential election and, whether they want or not, they will not be able to elect the president on their own.
