Iran, Tehran, 13 November /corr. Trend A.Namdari / The Parliament of Iran toughened up the measures of punishment on sale-purchase of alcoholic drinks. On 13 November, the representatives of the Iranian Parliament re-considered the project on Shariah punishments
Changes were made to the project with regards to measures of punishment in
respect to those who produce, consume and sell or mediate in selling alcoholic
drinks.
According to new project, those,
who generate, use, who carry out sale or mediate in sale of alcoholic drinks
will be punished in the form of imprisonment for a period from 1 to 6 years, 74
blows by lash and payment of penalty in the amount which five times exceeds the
cost of alcoholic drinks.
The project says that if the volume of alcoholic drinks will exceed 20 liters, transportation means, which transported it, will be confiscated by State.
The new document says that if State servants, officials,
members of councils, organizations and funds will be arrested for the use of
alcoholic drinks, besides the punishments indicated, they will deprived of
possibility to hold posts in State for a period from 1 years to 5 years.
Considering that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a religious state, laws in
this country are introduced in accordance with the requirements of Islam.
