Azerbaijani Opposition Parties Representatives to Meet with Iranian Ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 November / Trend , corr. A.Huseynbala/Representatives of Azerbaijani opposition parties, which are united in the Union for Democracy, will meet with the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan.

"Taking into account this fact we made a decision at the n of the Union for Democracy to postpone the rally before the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan," Ahmad Oruj, the chairman of the Azadlig party, which is united in the Union, told Trend on 19 November.

About 35 million of Azerbaijanis reside in the South Azerbaijan. Governmental agencies of Iran accelerated repressions against Azerbaijanis and Azerbaijani prisoners sentenced to different term.

Two weeks ago the Union for Democracy, which unites Azerbaijani opposition parties, appealed to the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan with a request to explain repression facts. If the Iranian Embassy will not respond, the Union will stage a rally before the embassy.

According to Oruj, Iranian Deputy Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sheikh Gafuri said that the embassy received the appeal and ambassador Nasir Gamidezare promised to meet with representatives of political parties, which are united in the Union, soon.

Repression facts in the South Azerbaijan were also discussed at the meeting of the Union for Democracy. "Taken into account ambassador' promise we postponed the rally," Oruj said.

The stage of the rally will depend on the result of the respond of the ambassador.
