Georgia, Tbilisi, 21 November / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia/ The crew of the Genius ship, including six Georgian citizens, were released on 21 November. The ship was captured by Somali pirates a week ago.
The seamen were released after the company owning the ship paid a ransom to the pirates. Georgian Consul to Greece Konstantin Sabiashvili took an active part in release of the captives.
Eighteen Georgian citizens (Aksion and CIS Future ships) are still kept by the Somali pirates.
The negotiations to release them are still underway.
