Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 November / corr Trend J.Babayeva / The rumors on returning of Isgandar Hamidov, ex-minister of interior, to the post of chairman of the Azerbaijan National Democrat Party chairmanship (ANDP) are far from reality.

"The last media reports urging that Isgandar Hamidov will again head the party are of ill-intentioned purposes," Tufan Karimli, ANDP chairman, told Trend on November 26.

According to Karimli, spreading false information is aimed to split the organization. "Heretofore there existed some powers intending to split the organization and take it under control. Due to failure to achieve the goal, these powers are spreading false information," the ANDP chairman said.

An organized work is conducted in the party, Karimli said. "Reorganization and rehabilitation of several regional organizations is being held. In the near future the activities of the party will become considerable," the chairman said.

The Boz Gurd party was established in 1993. It passed the state registration in 1994. The Supreme Court canceled the registration because of the name of the organization. In the second congress held in 1999, the party was renamed to National Democratic Party. However the Justice Ministry rejects to register the party.

Iskandar Hamidov, ex-chairman of the party and former interior minister, was convicted from 1995 to 2004. He was released in 2004 at the president's amnesty. In April 2008 he resigned from the post of the party chairman. He grounded his decision just with desire to give an opportunity to deserving people to develop the party. Tufan Karimli was elected the chairman in the fourth session of ANDP held on August 24, 2008.
