Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec.17 / Trend , corr. N.Kirtskhalia / Georgian President Micheil Saakashvili signed a decree to pardon 1,280 prisoners.
"All prisoners except three will be released today," Yelena Tevtoradze, the chairman of the Pardon Commission, said.
According to
Tevtoradze, the term of sentence of three prisoners was half reduced.
"Decision to pardon prisoners the President made personally. We sent no list to
President. Possibly, the lists were sent by the Justice Ministry, the
Prosecutor Office and Patriarchate," Tevdoradze said and noted that another
pardon is expected to the New Year.
Commission for pardon will meet on Dec. 24 and will examine the new statements
of those condemned. Then lists will be directed to the President of Georgia
