Germany, Georgia sign agreements on political development cooperation

Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 19/ Trend , N. Kirtskhalia/ Germany and Georgia signed two agreements on cooperation in political development worth €59mln. The agreements were drawn up by Georgian Finance Minister Nikoloz Gilauri and Germany's temporary plenipotentiary Christian Pernhorst.

As part of the agreement on technical cooperation, Federative Republic of Germany (FRG) will allocate up to €8mln for new project Assistance to Private Economic Sector of Georgia and in order to prolong the current project Assistance to Georgian Board of Control.

Besides, earlier agreed projects, such as Assistance to Improvement of Infrastructure in Georgia, Assistance to Legal and Judicial Systems in Georgia and Assistance to Local Governments in Georgia, are continued.

Germany will allocate €51mln within the financial cooperation project.

So, €45mln of the sum is a soft credit and €6mln is a grant.

These funds will be spent for the project of Rehabilitation of Communal Infrastructure Institutions in Batumi. Moreover, funds will be spent for the projects of Ecoregional Programs in Georgia, Assistance to Board of Control, and Project of Assistance to Small Entrepreneurship.
