Israel, Jerusalem, Dec. 29/ Trend , A. Gut/ So far Israel displayed restraint. However, it was obliged to launch anti-terrorist offensive against Hamas, Mikhail Brodski, official representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said to Trend .

"Hamas is a terrorist organization and we must defend all citizens from its rockets. No country across the world would endure Hamas actions aimed at violating Israel's sovereignty," Israeli diplomat said.

Brodski said Hamas cynically humiliates its own population and adds their suffering for propaganda purposes. "Hamas fires rockets at south towns of Israel from the Gaza Strip. Israel is taking all necessary measures to reduce damage for civilians in the Gaza Strip to a great extend," Brodski said.

The defense minister of Israel gave a go-ahead to entrance of lorries with humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, he said. "Show me a state who actually is in a state of war with the hostile organization which controls Hamas and regulated entrance of 100 lorries with essential goods, food, medicine and medical equipment," Brodski said.

"The anti-terror offensive will be continued and enlarged as it is necessary according to the assessment of Israeli military leadership. We enter the period which will not be easy and simple," he noted.

Israel seeks to avoid civilian causalities during offense against Hamas, however, organization must stop rocket fires in order to put an end to violence, he added.

Israel still believes in principle of "two governments for two nations" and remains committed to talks with the legal government of the Palestinian Autonomy within the peace process launched in Annapolis," Brodski said.
