The Charter on Strategic Partnership between Georgia and the U.S. includes cooperation on security issues and strengthening the Georgian army, Georgian Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze told media on Feb. 4, while answering a question about U.S military bases in the country.

Earlier it was reported that the U.S. is ready to build two bases in Marneuli and Poti.

"The charter between Georgia and the U.S. envisages broad cooperation. A principal priority is ensuring security. Military cooperation is important for us. Our army needs aid and strengthening to defend our territory," Bakradze said.

Routes for rendering aid will be defined in talks between "concrete departments and ministries," he said.
