Local media reported the name of the member of parliament who received the most votes in repeat polling at a precinct in Turkmenistan's Mariy region. The parliament is now fully formed.

Tahir Atambayev received 71.29 percent of the votes at the 101 Precinct, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported. Forty-year old Atambayev is an ethnic Uzbek and English-language teacher in Bayramali.

A total of 90.63 percent of the precinct's registered electorates voted.

Local observers carried out monitoring.

Repeat polling was held after a former candidate refused the post for family reasons after winning in December 2008.

Some 123 members of parliament were elected from among 287 candidates in the first round. Repeat elections were also held Dec. 28 as candidates did not gain the required votes at a precinct in the Lebap region.

The majority of the members of parliament belong to the governing Democratic Party.
