European Commission expands support to Tajikistan

The European Commission will expand its support to Tajikistan, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said in Brussels after a meeting with Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon on Feb. 10.
Barroso said at a joint news conference that Tajikistan is receiving most of the finances allocated by the European Commission to Central Asia - 66 million euro over 2007-2010.
The European Commission decided to allocate 18 million euro for social projects and 15.5 million euro for social security and agriculture projects, Barroso said.
The European Commission intends to enhance and develop bilateral relations with Tajikistan.
