Arsim Zekolli has been appointed as head of the OSCE Ashgabat Office.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the official.

The appointment coincided with the 10th anniversary of the OSCE Ashgabat Office.

"I am confident that we will benefit from the personal involvement of such an experienced diplomat. Ambassador Zekolli will promote the further development of our excellent business relations with the Turkmenistan," OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut wrote to Berdimuhamedov in a message.

Berdimuhamedov said the country's partnership with the OSCE is constructive and important in terms of consolidating efforts to address pressing issues in the region.

The president extended an invitation to the OSCE secretary general to take part in a conference in Ashgabat under the auspices of the UN in April 2009. The conference will focus on ensuring international pipeline security.

"A neutral Turkmenistan is a kind of anchor of stability in Central Asia and a key OSCE partner in the region," Zekolli said. The officials also exchanged their views on furthering their partnership.
