Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 17 / Trend , A.Huseynbala/
The Azerbaijani left-wing People's Socialist, Progressive Socialist and Left Democrat parties launched the Coordination Council on Feb. 17.
Progressive Socialist Party Chairman Rustam Shahsuvarov said the council is against pursuing policies through violence and prefers to wage an ideological struggle.
Shahsuvarov said the council will develop a proposal package to minimize the influence of the global financial crisis on Azerbaijan. The package will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and parliament.
The parties said prices for energy resources should be cut.
Elshan Manafov was the deputy chairman for ideological issues of the Social and Democrat Party and a member of the Central Committee Bureau.
In early September 2008, Manafov was dismissed from the party after accusing fellow Chairmab Araz Alizade of incompetency. Manafov then established a new left-wing party with his supporters.
The People's Socialist Party was established in October 2008 and submitted the relevant documents for registration.
Progressive Socialist Party Chairman Rustam Shahsuvarov left the Azerbaijan Communist Party and formed his own party.
