Former Georgian Parliamentary Speaker Nino Burjanadze told authorities not to speculate about her connections in Russia.

"I had connections in Russia as the parliamentary speaker and even better connections in the U.S. and Europe," Burjanadze told Kavkasia TV.

"Owing to my connections I learned a lot, such as what the Georgian leadership refused to do to resolve the situation. The time will come when I will state these facts in public," she said.

Burjanadze said it is precisely due to her connections that she warned the U.S. State Department about the Georgian authorities. The State Department said Georgia would remain alone if caught engaging in acts of provocation, she added.

Burjanadze made the comment in response to a statement by Georgian Defense and Security Parliamentary Committee President Givi Targamadze. He told her to use the connections of her father and husband, as well as her own, to search for people who went missing during the August conflict.

Burjanadze expressed her readiness to do so, and added that Targamadze will have to disclose specific information about the missing people.
