If the U.S. changes its policy toward Iran, Tehran may take counter steps, Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said in Baku on Feb. 19.
"The new U.S. administration should stop its negative approach to Iran," Mottaki added.
The presidential elections in the U.S. were held on Nov. 4.
Forty-fourth U.S. President Barack Obama has vowed to renew a political dialogue with Iran.
Mottaki is visiting Baku to attend the meeting of the joint Azerbaijani-Iranian Economic Cooperation Commission.
