UNESCO workshop to kick off in Bishkek

UNESCO's Non-Material Cultural Heritage Inventory workshop for CIS countries will be held in Bishkek on Feb. 23-25, a source at the Kyrgyz UNESCO commission told Trend .

The workshop is part of UNESCO's non-material cultural heritage convention ratified by Kyrgyzstan in 2006. The workshop will teach registry non-material cultural heritage standards to CIS experts.

The convention was designed to protect and advance non-material heritage values to subsequent generations. It was ratified by 108 UNESCO member-countries. 

The workshop will involve experts and specialists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, France, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyz Culture and Information Minister Sultan Rayev and Kyrgyzstan UNESCO Secretary General Jipar Jeksheev will attend the workshop.
