An Azerbaijani member of parliament said the mass burial site in Guba must be turned into a museum.
"The discovered remains are decaying. Chemical substances are needed to prevent this from happening. If we create a museum after the bones have already decayed, then it will have no effect. The bones are necessary to prove the genocide," member of parliament Ganira Pashayeva said.
In April 2007, a mass burial site was discovered in Guba during the construction of a stadium.
Based on the irregular positioning of the bodies, experts believe that the site is a remnant of the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1918.
Pashayeva urged the parliament to help turn the site into a museum.
"The Guba site is a part of our history. We must work hard to prove to the international community that the Armenians committed genocide against our people even before the Khojali Genocide," she said.
