Azerbaijani president inaugurates Interior Ministry’s computer management center

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Interior Ministry's Safe City computer management center in Baku on Feb. 24, the AzerTag news agency reported.

The center will maintain continuous video surveillance to ensure rule of law and rapid responses to crimes and emergency situations.

In the initial stage, 555 video cameras were installed in 200 places in Baku.

The Turkish Ekin company installed the equipment.

Ten million manat was allotted to implement the project.

About 4,000 cameras will be installed in Baku.

Data about law violations are reported the Interior Ministry at telephone number 102.

The information is then passed on to local police precincts.

Safe City is a modern project implemented as part of the "State Program to Improve Activities of Law Enforcement Agencies in the Azebaijan Republic," signed by President Ilham Aliyev on June 30, 2004.
