Iranian president arrives in Astana

Kazakhstan, Astana, April 6 / Trend , K. Arinova/ Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Astana. He is holding talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the moment.

The Iranian and Turkmen leaders are expected to discuss the current and future trade and economic cooperation, Ak-Orda reported.

The development of trade and economic cooperation and political dialogue with Iran, bilateral and multilateral cooperation are Kazakhstan's foreign policy priorities. 

Kazakhstan offers Iran to develop the current potential in transport sector and build intergovernmental railway in the Caspian region which Astana says will ensure cargo transportation to the Persian Gulf and backwards.

The volume of Kazakhstan-Iran trade turnover increased over five times over the past six years and totaled $2.1 billion. Ahmadinejad will give a press conference at evening on April 6. Iranian President's visit will last two days.
