"The attempt to mutiny in the Armed Forces armored battalion in Muhrovani aimed to break the NATO exercises and increase tensions in the country," the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported. The ministry's statement said the NATO exercises will begin in Georgia on May 6 as part of the Alliance's program on "Partnership for Peace" and on May 7 Prague will host the "Eastern Partnership" summit to deepen and give a new impetus to the EU's cooperation with 6 countries of the region, including Georgia.

"Russian officials made statements against Georgia's Euro Atlantic integration on the backdrop of the development of positive events. Just on this background, ex-militaries of the Georgian Armed Forces which were excluded from the Armed Forces after the" Rose Revolution ", dated Nov. 23 2003,  have tried to implement the disturbance in one part of the armed forces, the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry stresses that the revolt aimed to break the planned NATO exercises in Georgia and increase tension in the country.
