Azerbaijani border guards detained and handed over 103 people to law enforcement agencies which have been in search since April.
A total of 30 people were arrested due to 19 cases of violations of the Azerbaijani state border, the State Border Service told Trend on May 7.
The detained people comprise 12 citizens of Iran, 8 citizens of Azerbaijan, 7 citizen of Georgia, one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Turkmenistan.
Some 279 people were detained due to 191 violation cases of the border regime, 59 people - in 39 cases for the lack of visas, 29 people - in 19 cases of the expiry of the visa, and 29 people in 21 cases for the absence of relevant documents.
In April, border guards seized over 58 kilograms of narcotic substances. In the Caspian Sea, they checked 4 Azerbaijani vessels and 18 boats, as well as one Russian vessel.
Appropriate measures were taken on 5 Azerbaijani citizens on two boats which did not obey to the border guards' demands.
In April, the border guards withdrew smuggling worth 229,000 manat.
