Senior official of the Georgian Defense Ministry has been arrested for espionage, the lawyer of the senior official said.
Irakli Batkuashvili held post of head of the NATO Partnership for Peace program Coordination Headquarters at the Georgian Joint Staff and held high-rank positions at the Defense Ministry since 2004.
No official comments have been provided about Irakli Batkuashvili's arrest. Former diplomat Vakhtang Maysaiya was also arrested for cooperation with the Russian intelligence earlier this week.
Lawyer said Batkuashvili has not been announced a suspect and he will be under arrest till 19:00 today.
