Reformists, former Prime Minister of Iran Mirhuseyn Moussaoui was registered in the Electoral Committee to participate in the next presidential election, the FARS said.
Mirhuseyn Moussaoui presented papers to the Electoral Committee and officially announced his participation in the upcoming presidential elections after reformist Mehdi Karroubi Mousavi.
The presidential elections will be held in Iran on June 12. Mousavi's main rivals are member of Iranian Corps Mohsun Rezaii, reformist Mehdi Karroubi and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The election campaign was started on May 5. The process of registration of presidential candidates will be finished on May 9.
According to the Election Commission, 229 people have been registered in the Electoral Committee to participate in the upcoming presidential elections. Among them are 213 men and 16 women. During the presidential elections in 2005 there were registered 1,014 people. The Supervisory Board approved the credentials of only seven candidates.
The incumbent President Ahmadinejad, former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Mohsun Rezaii and Chairman of the National Trust Party Mehdi Karroubi and former Prime Minister of Iran Mirhuseyn Moussavi were officially registered in Iran.
Presidential elections in Iran are held every four years. Candidates may participate in the electoral process after the approval of the Supervisory Board. A person elected as president, receives the status after the approval of the supreme spiritual leader. President is the second official after the supreme spiritual leader. President controls the entire executive department that determines external and internal policy.
