The proposals made by the Georgian authorities to opposition meet recommendations of the European Union, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said in an interview with Rustavi 2. He called Saakashvili's proposals made at the recent meeting with radicals and parliamentary opposition "significant".
There was proposed to create a commission to make amendments to the Constitution headed by an opposition politician, as well as to work out new election code, reform media, judicial and political systems.
"These are the most important issues. Both sides must be ready for a dialogue," Semneby said.
Dialogue is the only way to regulate the political situation in Georgia, he added.
Any political confrontation must be solved through negotiations. Semneby believes that the proposals to make changes to the Constitution, Election Code and media are "good opportunity" for a dialogue.
