Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev notes that thanks to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), former Soviet countries have an opportunity to establish equal relations with one another, KazTAG reported.
"Of course, we are independent states and we all are different. However, the history which was helps to establish new equal relations amongst our states under new conditions," the president said at the meeting with the heads of the CIS governments on May 22.
Nazarbayev complained that the many spoke about the irrelevance of the CIS within the independence years.
"I am convinced that we all need this. At least for these meetings. If there was not the CIS in a way which we know it independence of our states would be established under more difficult conditions," he said.
