Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov is for official legalization of football pool in Azerbaijan.
"The gained profit from the football pool would be invested in the development of football," Rahimov told journalists on May 30.
President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) supports authorization of football pool.
In Azerbaijan, the legislation prohibited activities totalizators. However, in any place in Azerbaijan, especially in Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit and Lankaran, there are extensive informal football pools, and their profits flow into the pockets of the organizers.
President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Rovnag Abdullayev also advocated the legalization of soccer wagers. Abdullaev believes that football wagers should be legalized, and profit from them should be invested in the development of football.
"It is practiced in other countries around the world," earlier Abdullaev told journalists.
