Foreign Intelligence Service of Georgia has information on certain links of the Georgian political spectrum with Russia. The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Georgia Gela Bezhuashvili briefed media that "certain relationship is indeed visible, but this issue relates to law enforcement rather than foreign intelligence".
At today's meeting of the parliamentary committee on defense and security, Bezhuashvili paid special attention to Russia's support for the internal disorder in Georgia, and did not exclude "Russia's relations with agential network and the Georgian political spectrum". "We have information on these relationships," said Bezhuashvili, but did not name any specific political figures in this context.
At the same time, he assessed the issue of holding pre-term elections in the country "Russia's bait" and expressed hope that the "Georgian people will not give way to the bait".
According to Bezhuashvili, the activity of Russian special services is evident in the occupied territories and neighborhood with Georgia.
According to the chairman of the committee, Givi Targamadze, "activization of the entire Russian agents occurs under a propaganda slogan: "if you want to live normally, Saakashvili must retire because no-one will speak with him".
