Azerbaijani parliament prepares to consider military doctrine: first vice-speaker

Azerbaijani military doctrine and the law on status of troops participating in peaceful operations will be discussed during autumn session of the Azerbaijani Parliament, the first vice speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis Ziyafet Askerov told Trend in Astana on June 25.  

"As far as I know project of Azerbaijani military doctrine is prepared. Presently, project is under stage of study. I think we will adopt it during autumn session," Askerov said.

Law bill on status of troops participating in peaceful operations, as well as military doctrine will be discussed by MPs.
 

"This law bill is prepared. We intend to discuss it during autumn session. Status of peacemakers, term of their service and maintenance reflected in law bill, the first vice-speaker said.

Presently, Azerbaijani 90 peacemakers serve in Iraq.

Roughly 150 soldiers of Azerbaijani military forces serve in multinational forces in Iraq. Roughly 45 Azerbaijani peacemakers served in international security forces in Afghanistan. They joined patrol service in Kabul. The parliament decided to increase number of peacemakers twice and reach their number up to 90 in October.

The Azerbaijani parliament decided to withdraw 34 Azerbaijani peacemakers in this region due to political situation after declaring about independence of Kosovo leaving Serbian staff on March 4.
