Turkmen president visits Jordan

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov will pay an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on June 29, an official Turkmen source said.

The president will hold negotiations with Jordan's King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, which will focus on issues of political, economic and cultural life of countries. The Turkmen delegation will participate in a joint business forum and exchange views on the prospects for cooperation in trade, fuel and energy complex, construction, agriculture, transport, and communications.

It is planned to sign a package of intergovernmental agreements after the meetings in Amman. "The forthcoming meeting of leaders of two states is a very significant event in international politics, as it will favor dynamic development of the Turkmen-Jordanian relations that have entered a new and defining level over the past two years," the Turkmen Dovlet khabarlary state news service reported.

In late August 2008, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein paid first official visit to Ashgabat.

The countries are holding negotiations to exchange embassies.
