Doors for cooperation between Azerbaijan, Syria are open: Syrian president

The doors for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Syria are open, and this gives us confidence in a prosperous future, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said during the talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, the AzerTaj news agency reported.

The two countries have a strategic position at the global level, anf hold friendly relations with the countries of the region and neighboring countries, President Bashar Assad said.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan's interest in developing cooperation with Syria, which will benefit both nations.

Azerbaijan and Syria have signed five papers on bilateral cooperation. The papers were signed on July 8 as part of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's official visit to Baku. The papers include an "Agreement on releasing holders of diplomatic and special passports from visa," "Agreement on Cooperation in the field of culture", "Memorandum of Understanding to establish an intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation," "Agreement on Cooperation in the industrial and energy fields" and "Agreement on promotion and reciprocal protection of investments".
