Turkey will be invited to become an EU member, said Koksal Toptan, the chairman of the Turkish parliament, Anadolu Turkish information agency reported.

"The time will come and countries, standing against our EU membership, will invite us to join this organization," Toptan said.

Talks on Turkey's joining the EU were launched in 2005. According to experts, Ankara will be able to reach it in 10-15 years.

The EU repeatedly called for Turkey to accelerate democratic reforms the EU wanted to negotiate and threatened to freeze talks if they didn't accelerate democratic reforms. In response, Ankara told the EU that Turkey stands for active reforms and integration.

During the press-conference Turkish state minister and head of Turkish delegation, Egemen Bahish, said that Turkey will be an EU member soon. Turkish foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said that Turkey will be a full EU member soon. "If the EU admits Turkey, Turkey can become the strongest presence in the region," he said.

According to Toptan, Turkey's major goal is full EU membership.
