Russian President Dimitriy Medvedyev's visit to Tzkhinvali, which was occupied by Russian troops, is a response to U.S President Barak Obama's statement, Georgian Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze said. "Evidently Medvedyev was not able to respond adequately to Obama in Moscow. We remember how he kept silence towards Obama's statement supporting Georgia's territorial integrity. Medvedyev decided to demonstrate his attitude in this way," Bakradze said.

According to Bakradze, the visit was specially timed to signing of an agreement on Nabucco in Ankara on July 13, which should emancipate Europe from gas dependence on Russia. It is also a response to signing [of agreement]. Medvedyev decided to visit regime in Kokoyti, which Russia occupied and recognized, while Europe assembled in Ankara, Bakradze said.

The visit is a warning for Georgians. It was not against any person or against any party. It is an attack on Georgia's statehood and a challenge to all Georgians, Bakradze added, calling the nation to unity against danger of invader's aggression.

The Georgian Parliament intends to make a statement on Medvedyev's visit to the occupied territory.
