The Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia has already been informed about the detention of the former captain of the "BUKET" ship, Azerbaijani Citizen, Ilgar Imanverdiyev, Counselor to the Embassy Shovgi Mehdizadeh told Trend .
Georgia claims that when Imanverdiyev was a captain of the ship sailing under the Panamanian flag, he repeatedly violated the territorial waters of Georgia and visited Abkhazia with the smuggled goods.
"We are currently holding consultations with Georgia on this case and have not yet decided further actions to protect the rights of our citizens," said Mehdizadeh.
After consultations, the Azerbaijani the Embassy will take all measures envisaged in the existing legislation to protect Imanverdiyev's rights, he emphasized.
