The Poti court changed preventive punishment towards captain of BUKET vessel, Azerbaijani citizen Ilgar Imanverdiyev. He was released for bail worth 10,000 lari ($1-1.68 lari), the Georgian border police told trend News on September 7.
The Poti court convicted Imanverdiyev to two-month-imprisonment as preliminary preventive punishment on August 26.
Azerbaijani captain was accused of violating Georgian territorial waters and entering Abkhazia with smuggled freight when he was a captain of BUKET vessel operating under Panama flag.
The vessel ruled by new captain Turkish citizen Mehmet Ozturk was detained in Poti on August 15. Ozturk was sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment.
