Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in New York as part of participation in the UN General Assembly, this was told to Trend by spokesman of Kazakhstan MFA Ilyas Omarov.

"Hillary Clinton during the meeting expressed interest of the United States to broaden and deepen bilateral relations with Kazakhstan in various spheres", - said Ilyas Omarov.

In particular, it believes "the U.S. appreciate the noble call of the President of Kazakhstan to develop a new treaty on general horizontal and vertical non-proliferation of nuclear weapons." In this regard, the importance of the forthcoming next spring Global Summit on nuclear safety in the U.S. and participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in it.

According to Omarov, Hillary Clinton accepted with gratitude the invitation of Kazakh colleagues to pay a visit to Kazakhstan.

"As you know, she visited our country as first lady of the United States in 1998. The head of the State Department has expressed interest in a deeper acquaintance with the country's achievements over the years, especially with the new capital of Astana," - concluded Omarov.
