Heads of the parliaments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan believe the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkish-speaking countries (TurkPA) will become an authoritative international organization.
The Parliamentary Assembly will work to bring together countries, Speaker of the Kazakh Parliament, Oral Muhammedjanov, said at the TurkPA plenary session in Baku on Sept. 29.
"The first meeting of the TurkPA is a historic event. The assembly will strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries and contribute to a political rapprochement of the countries" the speaker said.
The TurkPA will become the authoritative international organizations such as PACE and the OIC, Muhammedjanov said.
It is important to expand the ranks of TurkPA, said Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Aytibay Tagayev, "Culture and language unites the Turkish-speaking countries", the speaker added.
The Turkish-speaking countries have a great potential for cooperation, Tagayev said.
On Sept. 28, Baku hosted the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkish-speaking countries with the participation of parliamentary delegations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
