Speaker of Turkish parliament calls on Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to join Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mehmet Ali Shahin, called on the Uzbek and Turkmen parliaments to join the Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly.

"We hope that Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will join the Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly. It is necessary to expand ties with these countries," Shahin said at the plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries in Baku on September 29.

He said that rapprochement of Turkic-speaking countries will solve common problems.

Next meeting of the Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Astana in October 2010, Turkish speaker said.

The plenary meeting of the Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly including delegations of the Milli Majlis, the Kazakh Parliament, Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is being held in Baku on September 29.
