Chairman of the Turkish opposition Grand Unity Party Yalcin Topcu has proposed to establish Caspian Union.

"It is high time to create the Caspian Union in the region," Topcu told Trend over phone from Ankara on Oct.8.

Topcu said that this task is not difficult. "If we look at history, we will see that the EU member states have fought with each other over the centuries. However, the countries of the Caspian Sea had never faced such problems" he said.

Azerbaijan and the Turkish-speaking countries of the Central Asia must be the core of the Caspian Union, Topcu added.

Russia and Armenia can also join the Caspian Union in the future. However, Armenia, first of all, must withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani lands and recognize the genocide committed by it in Khojali, Topcu said.
