Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay official visit to Turkey on October 21-24, press-secretary of the Kazakh foreign ministry Ilyas Omarov told Trend .
"Several bilateral documents will be signed in political, trade-economic and scientific-technological spheres within the visit. Kazakh-Turkish business-forum will be held with participation of business circles of both countries," Omarov said.
He said that during a visit Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to meet with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime-Minister Recep Erdogan, chairman of the Turkish parliament Shahin, as well as leaders of major Turkish political parties and public organizations.
"During the visit, the president plans to visit the headquarter of TURKSOY in Ankara. Nazarbayev is expected to meet with the 9-th Turkish President Suleyman Demirel," Omarov said.
Current visit of the Kazakh President to Turkey is designed to give a new impetus to deepen Kazakh-Turkish partnership and strengthen cooperation in al spheres of bilateral relations, press-secretary of the Kazakh foreign ministry said.
Diplomatic relations between two countries were established on March 2, 1992. The dynamics of Kazakh-Turkish relations allows to speak about the strategic nature of the partnership between two states.
These relations are based on common historical roots and cultural values of two peoples, coincidence of interests between Astana and Ankara on many regional and international issues, energy security and economic cooperation. Turkey recognizes the leading role of Kazakhstan in Central Asia and considers this country as the most important partner in the region.
Practical inter-action in multilateral context successfully develops along with the constructive dialogue conducted intensively on a bilateral basis between countries within the UN, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Summit of heads of Turkic-speaking countries, and other associations.
According to the Kazakh foreign ministry, Turkey is one of important trade-econoic partners of Kazakhstan. Mutual trade turnover hit $2,875 billion (export - $1,903 billion, import - $0,971 billion), in 2007 - $1,9 billion (export - $934,3 million, import - $959 million).
Kazakhstan mainly exports mineral resources (oil, metals, etc.), vegetable products, products of chemical industry, base metals and goods. Imports from Turkey is represented by construction materials, chemical production, textiles, plastics and plastic goods, food products, cars and equipment.
