Fire in Georgia destroys 100 hectares of forest recently

Fires in Georgia have recently destroyed about 100 hectares of forest, Georgian Environment and Natural Resources Minister Gogi Khachidze said. The minister called on people to be careful, because fire is a consequence of carelessness and negligence of people.

Fires in Georgia have recently destroyed about 100 hectares of forest, Georgian Environment and Natural Resources Minister Gogi Khachidze said. The minister called on people to be careful, because fire is a consequence of carelessness and negligence of people.

Currently, a lot people go to forest to gather firewood for winter. Fire occurs because of their negligence, minister added.

At present, forests of Svaneti, Rach, Imereti, Guria and Kakheti burst into flame.

"I call on people to be more careful," minister said.

Khachidze also said that his ministry and the Internal Ministry achieved to extinguish fire and prevent its spreading to other regions. According to minister, fire covered about 100 hectares of forest now.
